Visiting The Wild Horse Event House A 23-Bedroom Oceanfront In 4×4 Corolla, NC
Wild Horse Event House is the Premier Spot in Northern OBX
I was fortunate enough to be invited to Twiddy Realty’s Open House event for the brand new Wild Horse event home in Carova, North Carolina, about 10 miles North of Corolla.
This brand new oceanfront property in Carova will definitely become “the” premiere event home on the Northern Outer Banks in the very near future. I accompanied Chef Wes Stepp and his wife Cindy, owners of the Red Sky Café in Duck, North Carolina.
They are friends of Wild Horse’s owner, RV Owens and went up to Carova to shoot a cooking video for The Red Sky Café’s Outer Banks catering website and to enjoy RV’s affable Southern Hospitality. I’m glad I went…

The first word that entered my mind was “WOW!” I’ve been repeating it ever since. In the midst of his grand opening party, RV was gracious enough to personally tour the home with us, explaining how The Wild Horse was built to become the top outer banks wedding venue and other special events. The highlights include:
- Seating for 54 people in the dining room, a beautiful kitchen out front and a prep kitchen “behind the scenes,” complete with refrigeration, ovens, multiple dishwashers, and even a commercial-size icemaker!
- Huge outdoor spaces that include a bar, existing seating for 32 people and covered decking galore that can be used for dining and food presentation while still being able to walk around comfortably.
- A Banquet Room that will seat upwards of 100 guests that can be used in case of inclement weather.
- Attractive, quality furnishings throughout the sitting areas and 23, yes, TWENTY-THREE, bedrooms.
My favorite feature on the outside was the uncovered deck on the second floor, built specifically with wedding ceremonies in mind.
A lot of people come to the Outer Banks to get married with their toes in the sand. I’ve always been skeptical about beach ceremonies in Carova because of the (lack of) safety issue. Up here, the road is the beach. Trucks and other 4×4 vehicles frequently travel the throughway at higher than recommended speeds. I see an unfortunate accident happening someday and don’t want any part of it. The deck addresses this issue while maintaining the Atlantic Ocean as a gorgeous backdrop.
If you’re looking for that special event home for your destination wedding, family reunion or just want an exclusive getaway, do yourself a favor and check out The Wild Horse home. You can find the specifics on www.twiddy.com.
UPDATE (1/30/2012) – We’ve recently published an article that helps with Wedding Planning for Carova Beach, and it talks specifically about a few steps you need to take when looking at The Wild Horse House (or any other venue in Carova) for your wedding. Let us know if you have any questions by leaving us a comment, we’ll be more than happy to answer them.

Hi Shelley, nice of you to stop by the blog and drop that direct link. We had a great time back in the Wild Horse, cant wait to book more weddings there! If you think about it, it’d be good for Twiddy to join OBXBrides.com – give us a shout!
How would you get all of your guests there? Not everyone has 4×4.
Kristin,
Twiddy, the real estate company that manages the Wild Horse, has a fleet of SUVs available to transport your guests. The beach also has SUV limousine services you can request for your guests. Believe it or not, weddings on the 4×4 area of Carova beach are super popular. Even some Outer Banks Caterers serve the area.
Thanks for stopping by the blog
Hi!
Looking at this post has made me excited! We have a wedding booked at the Wild Horse in 2011. I was hoping that if any brides out there had already had a wedding at the Wild Horse, they could contact me so I can ask a few questions. (vendors, transportation). Thanks in advance!!!!

Hi Nadina,
Congratulations on your wedding! And great choice on the venue – the Wild Horse is gorgeous! We’ll pass your contact info to our member directors and ask them to pass it along to other brides.
Thanks for stopping by the blog!
Nadina,
I hope your wedding was wonderful!!! I am getting married at the Wild Horse this coming September, and was wondering if you would be willing to send some photos of your event and/or give me any tips! Thanks in advance
My Fiance and I have booked the Wild Horse for September 2013. We are so excited! Being that I live in Ohio and have yet to see the house in person, I’m starting to get a little nervous. I certainly hope we can make it out there sometime in the next few months so we can really hit the ground running with plans come September 2012! I feel like it’s closing in. Any general advice you may have will be sincerely appreciated!
Miranda, congratulations on your engagement and for booking such a magnificent venue! I’m sure you’ll love the Wild Horse, just make sure all of your vendors are aware exactly where the house is – it’s VERY remote. And you should ask them to show (at the very least talk about) previous events they ran around that area. It’s a good idea to ask vendors if they have previous clients that got married around Carova that you can call for references. In Carova, there’s really no room for mistakes – you’re a good 40 minutes (1 way) from the nearest grocery store.
Finally, work it out with the real estate company so that your guests have transportation. Twiddy, the company that manages the Wild Horse, is able to help with big SUVs to bring guests back and forth.
Anyway, thank you for stopping by! We hope you come back often, to let us know who you’ve hired and how planning is going.
