Jenny & Tim’s Wedding Featuring Great Cakes! of the Outer Banks

How did you meet?

We met at a local high school hang out in 2003, where after meeting Timmy started walking me to class.

How did you get engaged?

He took me to Shaws had me try on a few rings (which we had done before) asked me which one I like the best and then put money on the counter and told the sales lady to wrap it up.

Why OBX for your wedding day?

I have always loved the beach and it is one place we both relax so it was a perfect place to get married. Plus we are both casual so a laid back wedding was always a plan.

How did you decide on your ceremony and reception location?

In October I went down to OBX with my mom and we drove around and looked at a lot of places for the reception, I knew I wanted the ceremony right at the end of their street on the beach. In the end the Currituck Club had the best options for us.

How many guests did you have?

We had 76 people come.

How long did you allow for the wedding planning process?

I allowed about 10 months for planning.

Share with us some planning details that were important to you.

I knew I wanted great pictures and great food. Photographers were an easy choice Island photography was the only photographers we looked at, they did our family photos in 2010 and I knew they were perfect and the only people I wanted to take our wedding photos! Great food is a way to thank your guests for coming to share your day and when asking people to travel to your wedding that is important. The Currituck Club has a lot of choices and everything tastes amazing!

Looking back, what was your favorite moment of your wedding day?

Getting down to the beach and standing there with Timmy and thinking wow we are really here and this is real.

What advice would you give to another bride planning her wedding in the Outer Banks?

Talk to all your vendors they know the area and can give you great advice!

If you could do one thing different either in the planning or actual day, what would it be?

I would have taken more steps back to just look around and enjoy it and maybe hired a planner!

Did you have a theme or style that you carried through the planing process?

Not really it was supposed to be starfish but in the end just anything beachy.

How did you choose your menu?

We picked out a buffet but it was three different ones the club had but we put our own together.
