Alison & Josh ~ Wedding with Bordeaux Events
Elegance meets comfort foods
How did you meet?
We met at work.

How did you get engaged?
Josh gave Alison a small present on the Monday before Valentine’s Day. He told her that he had planned seven days of Valentine’s with a gift each day leading up to Valentine’s Day. He told her that he was taking her to dinner on Thursday, February 12, to the restaurant they went on their first date: Bonefish.
After dinner, Josh pretended to have to get home quickly and asked Alison to go get their mail. When she got back to their house, he had locked her out. When he opened the door, and Alison got over her initial shock, candles were lit, there was champagne chilling and the house had been scattered with 6,000 rose petals, thanks to Josh enlisting the help of Alison’s best friend, Lindsay. Josh sat Alison down, got down on one knee and proposed. And of course, Alison said YES! Josh did a WONDERFUL job with all of the planning and even managed to keep the whole thing a perfect surprise.

Why OBX for your wedding day?
We wanted to have our wedding at the beach and we also wanted to rent a private home that was large enough to house our entire wedding party with a second close by for our family. The Outer Banks was the perfect location to accommodate everything we wanted.
How did you decide on your ceremony and reception location?
It was the best house we’ve ever seen. It offered a private beach for our ceremony, more than enough space for a reception outside in the back yard and enough rooms for us and our wedding party to stay the entire week.

How many guests did you have?
44
How long did you allow for the wedding planning process?
5 months

Share with us some planning details that were important to you.
Location was first. We had specific ideas and the house we rented went beyond our expectations. Food was second. We wanted a buffet of comfort foods, but done with a bit of elegance. Coastal Provisions took our ideas and turned them in to a wonderful menu. Hiring a Wedding Planner. A must have for any couple who does not live in the Outer Banks. Marie took care of every detail, kept us updated on all of the planning and was awesome to work with. Photography. Mike and Allie had very unique poses and ideas that made for the best pictures any couple could want. They were fun, upbeat and made our day even more special.

Looking back what was your favorite moment of your wedding day?
Meeting each other at the end of the aisle as the ceremony started.
If you could do one thing different either in the planning or actual day what would it be?
Not one thing. It truly was perfect. The planning process was a lot of fun, never stressful and never felt like work.

What advice would you give to another bride planning their wedding in the Outer Banks?
Hire a wedding planner!
Thanks again!
Alison
