The Top 10 Wedding Trends of 2011!
Part One of Two
Every year brings in new fashions and styles for just about everything; cars, clothes, televisions, and especially weddings. Everything about a wedding changes every year. Gown fashions, hairstyles, colors, themes; the list goes on and on. We started this blog with a guide to wedding trends for 2010, so maybe it’s time we talked about…
Top Wedding Trends for 2011
This list was compiled by researching through various sources, and there are a lot of conflicting trends across the nation. But these seem to be the things everyone is agreeing on.
Party Like It’s 1899
Vintage seems to be the name of the game this year. Between décor reminiscent of the roaring 20’s and a focus on simple, rustic fare, we’ll be seeing a lot of the past in future weddings. The Princess Wedding Dress 2.0
With Prince William and Kate Middleton set to marry at the end of the month, you can expect that a lot of people will be trying to emulate that chic royal fashion. It would be hard to imagine a modern girl like Kate wearing something too old fashioned, so it will likely be a more form fitting and elegant style.
Outdoor Ceremonies

This isn’t much of a surprise when you think about it. Without door activities like bicycling, jogging, hiking and rafting all increasing in popularity, it’s no wonder people are choosing to be married in the great outdoors. And how perfect is that? A wedding on the beach is always a winner, and now it’s trendy too!
Wear a Green Dress
Not green like the color, green as in ecofriendly. Saving the environment is a big issue, and now you can help save the planet during your wedding. Recycled paper for invitations, organic foods and green party favors are all the rage with the eco crowd.
Do It Yourself
A lot of brides are doing a few things by themselves this year. Partly economical, partly to have a personal gesture from the bride and groom, and probably partly due to the popularity of DIY shows on TV, brides and grooms are making a lot of the décor by hand. We recently talked about one of our Outer Banks wedding vendors who just opened a DIY wedding floral studio.
So there are five of the top wedding trends for 2011. We’ll be bringing you the other half of the list later this week, and we’ll be talking about the new black and the importance of the little things in your wedding. Until then, thanks for visiting, and see you next time!
