You are planning an Outer Banks beach wedding.  Visions of sand, surf, birds and sun float throughout your head.  You want your guests to enjoy themselves and the location too.  Sitting at a table and enjoying the festivities is nice, but what can you do to get them caught up in the beach theme as well?  Let’s talk about the reception table centerpieces.

You could go with the usual tried-and-true decorations such as fresh flowers or maybe a hurricane vase with a pillar candle in it.  Ho hum.  Where is the beach excitement in that?

Imagine a sand pail with two shovels on the table.  Does that say “Beach” or what?  Put the names of the bride and groom on the shovels and you have a fun centerpiece that your guests will want to take to the beach and play with!

Maybe you will want to make a beach bag with a few beach items inside for the tables?  Who can resist looking inside?  You could fill it with flip-flops, sunglasses or even a small bottle of sunblock.

If that seems a bit too frivolous, maybe keep the candle idea but decorate around it with seashells or dried starfish.  Spray the shells with a little glitter and they will sparkle and shine in the candlelight.

Use your imagination when it comes to table centerpieces.  Almost anything you can picture can be created.  After all, this is your wedding.  And, your guests will appreciate the personal touches.
