Try to plan the pre-wedding makeup and hair day two or three weeks before the wedding.  This way, if you are disappointed with your look, you will have time to find someone else to help with your transformation.

If you are having a destination wedding, it may be difficult to schedule a trial run several weeks in advance.  Consider having the rehearsal make-up and hair style done for your rehearsal dinner.  You can then discuss any changes you want before your big day.
