I’ve driven by Village Lane in Corolla numerous times over the past 6 months, witnessing the progress of a great venue coming together. I finally got the chance for a guided tour by owner Scott Wheeler and his Aussie Shepherd, Sputnik.

What a beautiful property! This outdoor venue features expansive bermuda lawns, offering plenty of room for your wedding ceremony with ample shade trees. The property features great views of both the Corolla Lighthouse and the Whalehead Club, which are both close enough to skip-off to for photo opportunities by your local Outer Banks wedding photographer. I envisioned a progressive lawn party, with bocce ball or croquet set-ups, intimate seating areas with swings, a hammock and Adirondack chairs, and using the round pergola & stone patio area (complete w/ wine barrel tables) to create a classy setting for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.

There’s even a wood burning fireplace (can you say Smores for dessert?)

Room For Back-Up Plans

I know what you’re thinking…what if it rains? That’s a great question. When considering any outdoor event, especially a wedding on the Outer Banks, you always need a back-up plan. Fortunately, there’s plenty of room for a tent on the grounds. I imagine most people would want a tented area for dining anyway, so you can seek refuge from those “temporary squalls” in it or on the covered porches.

The property offers an intimate, elegant and casual setting for your wedding reception, rehearsal dinner or family reunion, with generous space for your wedding professionals. Scott and I also discussed using the interior of the house for small luncheons while brides and bridesmaids get ready for the big event. (Sputnik was still outside playing with the Frisbee!)

A Great Venue For Any Event

With plenty of parking and an air-conditioned restroom trailer included in the facility fee, Village Lane is a great venue for your event. The next time I drive by, I look forward to seeing a lawn full of your guests enjoying themselves at a classy wedding.
